Research Standards

The professional standards our study design follows · Last updated 17 August 2026

1. Our position, stated plainly

This is not a claim of membership or accreditation. Epicurean Digital Consultants Ltd is not stating that it is a member of the Market Research Society, of ESOMAR, or of any other professional body, and is not claiming certification against any research standard. What follows describes the standards our study design is written to follow. Any accreditation we later obtain will be published here with its registration number.

We would rather state a narrower claim we can evidence than a broader one we cannot.

2. Standards our study design follows

Our research practice is designed with the MRS Code of Conduct in mind, together with ESOMAR/ICC guidance on public opinion polling. In practice that means:

  • Participation is voluntary, informed and withdrawable without penalty.
  • Participants are told who is collecting the data and for what purpose before they answer.
  • Research is never a disguised sales or marketing activity.
  • Question wording is neutral; brand-comparative prompts are written even-handedly and option order is rotated where order effects are plausible.
  • Findings are reported with their base sizes, and results on a small base are labelled as indicative rather than presented as robust.
  • We do not report a finding we cannot evidence from the underlying data.

3. Participants

  • No participation by anyone under 18.
  • Reward terms are stated before a study begins, not after.
  • A participant may decline any individual question and may leave a study at any point.
  • Quality checks measure response behaviour, not the opinions expressed. Failing a check never means holding an unpopular view.
  • A rejected response is recorded with its reason and can be queried.

4. Clients

  • Clients receive findings, never participant identities.
  • We will decline a question that is misleading, that leads the respondent, or that is designed to manufacture a predetermined result.
  • We will say so if a sample cannot support the claim a client wants to make from it.

5. Data protection

Research standards and data protection law are handled together, not separately. How we collect, share, secure and delete personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy.

6. Raising a concern

If you believe a study fell short of these standards — as a participant or a client — email hello@epicureandigitalconsultants.com. We will investigate and respond. If a finding was wrong, we correct it and tell everyone who received it.
